Information for media

“Inbox.lv” has just signed an agreement with the prestigious festival of creativity “Cannes Lions”, becoming its exclusive representative in Latvia until 2015 and gaining the opportunity to share the world’s best advertising work with both professionals and the general public, said Andis Kulinskis, Sales Manager of SIA “Inbokss”.

The “Cannes Lions” festival, whose history dates back to 1954, has become the most important event of the creative industry, through which the wider public can see the very best advertising work from all over the world in one place. Latvian works have been presented at this festival several times and have also won awards and international recognition.

“Advertising is an integral part of pop culture; it reflects the era we live in. Almost every advertising professional dreams of creating a truly good advertisement that people would remember for years, laugh at, quote and tell their friends about. That is exactly why participation in world-renowned festivals is important, as it allows us to raise the bar for our industry, so that the people of Latvia also receive high-quality material in terms of both content and visuals,” emphasised Kulinskis.

Official representation of “Cannes Lions” means exclusive access to the festival’s events and materials and the opportunity to nominate Latvian jury members to take part in the festival; at the same time, over the next two years the portal’s task will be to promote this festival here in Latvia and to organise a series of related events.

“Today technology has changed the way we perceive and consume information; to a large extent we have reoriented ourselves towards the digital world. “Cannes Lions” has also kept up with the times, and now an entire day of the festival is devoted specifically to online solutions. It is therefore understandable that in Latvia a representative of the internet and digital industry – the largest multifunctional portal in the country – has been chosen as the official partner,” explained Kulinskis.

The festival, which traditionally takes place in Cannes in June, celebrated its sixtieth anniversary this year, bringing together approximately more than 11 thousand creative industry representatives from 90 countries. Every year around 34 thousand works are submitted to “Cannes Lions” for evaluation.

Education and raising professional standards are an integral part of “Cannes Lions”, which is why a separate competition for young talent – “Young Lions” – is held; “Inbox.lv” will be responsible for its selection round in Latvia until 2015.

Inbox.lv” has been Latvia’s largest multifunctional portal for more than ten years, offering its users a wide range of services – from e-mail and file sharing services to entertainment: games, the ability to upload and share photos, etc. According to the latest TNS data, Inbox.lv has more than 800 thousand active users, and for the fourth year in a row Inbox.lv has been in the TOP3 of Latvia’s most loved brands.
