Starting from 10 January 2022, we began receiving reports from users about incorrect spam filtering of some incoming messages from users of the @inbox.lv domain when using the Gmail mail service. This was caused by a drop in the reputation of the inbox.lv domain in the Google system (based on data from Gmail Postmaster Tools, in January).
This situation occurred due to an error in Google’s algorithms. The Google system incorrectly identified the IP addresses from which mass spam mailings were sent and attributed bad spammer addresses to the inbox.lv domain.
Google Postmaster Tools data showed that all emails from inbox.lv, including fraudulent ones, had all the necessary security settings.
Unfortunately, due to Google’s algorithm, the fraudulent emails affected the reputation of the inbox.lv domain and lowered it considerably. All of this significantly affected the delivery of legitimate emails from our servers to Gmail.
We are currently working to resolve the problem. We have contacted the Google team in order to correct the operation of Gmail’s spam filters as soon as possible and restore proper email delivery for inbox.lv users.
This problem did not affect emails sent from tvnet.lv, balticom.lv and custom domains of inbox.eu.
Inbox.lv is not the only one trying to solve the problem of legitimate emails unjustifiably ending up in the SPAM folder. Users of the ProtonMail service also encountered a similar problem – https://protonmail.com/blog/dkim-replay-attack-breakdown/
